The surrounding Pham Ngoc Thach and Vo Van Tan streets are popular with local professionals and university students for evening coffee and street food — banh trang tron (rice paper salad) vendors are a fixture around the square at dusk. The area has a noticeably less touristy atmosphere than District 1, offering a more authentic slice of Saigon's middle-class neighborhood life.
