Turtle Lake (Hồ Con Rùa) is a circular public square and roundabout in District 3, named for a concrete turtle sculpture that formed part of its original centerpiece fountain. The plaza has been a neighborhood gathering point since the 1960s and sits at the intersection of several tree-lined streets lined with cafes, local restaurants, and boutiques characteristic of District 3's evolving character. The surrounding Pham Ngoc Thach and Vo Van Tan streets are popular with local professionals and university students for evening coffee and street food — banh trang tron (rice paper salad) vendors are a fixture around the square at dusk. The area has a noticeably less touristy atmosphere than District 1, offering a more authentic slice of Saigon's middle-class neighborhood life.
